The brand
where craftsmanship meets zeitgeist & scandinavian design meets bohemian influence
Liv is Danish and means life. At Liv interior we believe in sustainable living! Through sustainable management and fair production, life is respected and preserved. The timeless style of the brand gives every living space its feel-good character. A holistic, sustainable mission to improve our lives runs through all areas of the German-Danish brand.
it all began with one rug
The idea for Liv interior came about by chance and a love of beautiful things. Inspired at a trade fair, Tina Mirza, a graphic designer from Copenhagen, decided in 2003 to design a rug and have it made by skilled weavers. At that time, the globetrotting woman was already living in Hamburg with her husband and Liv interior co-founder Asad Mirza. They had a small shop for vintage furniture from which they benefited when wanting to start selling the new rugs. The hand-woven rugs from India quickly became very popular and so Liv interior was born. The rugs are still the signature piece of the brand today. Nowadays, the collection also includes cushions, blankets, tableware and ceramics as well as lamps and several other decorative home accessories.
the liv interior style
Liv interior creates products that embellish our lives and bring joy into the consumer’s lives, without a guilty conscience. Modern living spaces inspired by the different places on earth invite you to linger. The boho influences of the German-Danish brand bring a warm breeze into the product worlds of Liv interior. However, the diversity of the collection means that other design approaches won’t be put in the background, instead it will be easy to combine the different styles to one sophisticated look. Minimalist living can be fully lived out as well as Scandinavian hygge, for example, with large rugs with discrete patterns that come in different colours and designs. New colour worlds such as lilac with orange or pink with orange appeal to a younger target group that loves daring interior design and eye-catchers. These pieces can in turn be playfully combined or become a highlight of the interior in a clean-modern setting. It’s up to you!
circularity
Circularity is an important part of Liv interior’s work. Whenever possible, materials are used which can be recycled into new raw materials in order to create a new life from them. To this day, Liv interior has used the following recycled materials: recycled yarn from plastic bottles, linen from surplus of bed linen production, recycled cotton from old clothes, recycled industrial brass and even recycled glass. Once a product has reached its purpose and end of life, the material can continue to circulate and be used economically. As a pioneer, Liv interior is an example of how well the circular economy can work. The label stands not only for a high style factor but also for a high quality standard, which, in contrast to some criticism of recycled goods, is guaranteed here
handmade
All liv interior products are made by hand. The company has a great interest in preserving traditional craftsmanship in our economy, which is characterised by mass-produced goods and speed. The brand works with small workshops where everything is handmade. In this way, liv interior pursues the goal that the cultural heritage of the respective craft can be passed on to the next generation, such as the rug weavers in India with whom Tina works. All rugs carry the GoodWeave seal of approval against exploitative child labour. The licence fees are used to finance social and educational programmes in India and Nepal, among other things.
